Cigarette smoking is arguably the earliest and the most common way of tobacco consumption. However, with the introduction of IQOS heets UAE and electronic cigarettes, the use of tobacco has continued to rise steadily, due to the numerous health benefits offered by these devices. Given that both IQOS and e-cigarettes use heat-not-burn technology, many people tend to think they are similar – which is not the case. Below, we examine some of the differences between IQOS and e-cigarette.

Nicotine Production Process

While both IQOS and E-cigarette use heat to burn technology, their end products and their mode of consumption is different. Electronic cigarettes produce vapor whereas IQOS yields nicotine aerosol. IQOS creates the aerosol by heating a mini cigarette referred to as heet sticks. On the other hand, E-cigarettes heat a liquid referred to as e-liquid, which is a mixture of many ingredients, including nicotine.

The Authenticity Of The Aerosols Produced

These two tobacco heating products give smokers different smoking sensations. While IQOS uses real tobacco to produce the same authentic feeling you get from smoking regular cigarettes, E-cigarettes heat a Liquid that contains propylene, vegetable glycerin, water, flavorings, and some nicotine to produce an aerosol rich in nicotine. However, the nicotine produced by e-cigarettes doesn’t have the authentic taste of tobacco.

Heating Temperature

IQOS heats tobacco sticks at 350°C. This temperature ensures there is no emission of smoke or ash – only nicotine is produced. In contrast, E-cigarettes heat the e-liquid at a temperature of about 100-250°C to create vapor.

How Long Do The Batteries Last?

The duration of the batteries of these devices depends on several factors, including the duration/ frequency of use, the battery types, their size of the battery, and the age of the batteries.

The batteries used in an IQOS last for approximately one hour. This means you can smoke at least 150 puffs before the battery is depleted. On the other hand, a fully charged E-cigarette battery can last a medium user between 8-10 hours before it needs a recharge – approximately 300 puffs. Moreover, E-cigarette batteries need to be replaced after 6-12 months of regular use.

Design

Electronic cigarettes have several components such as a mouthpiece (drip trip), a cartridge ( liquid storage area), a heating element,  a microprocessor, and a battery. Other models may also have an LED light. On the other hand, IQOS has three components; a holder, a heated tobacco unit (Heet Sticks), and a charger.

In Conclusion

It is undeniable that IQOS and Electronic Cigarettes share some similarities; they don’t emit smoke or ash, they pose very minimum risk to consumers (making them popular amoung the elderly smokers), and they both use heat-to-burn technology. However, there are also key features that distinguish these heating devices. For instance, they differ in design, heating temperatures, and the production of nicotine,  among many others. So, the choice between the two devices entirely depends on your needs and preferences. Try on of these devices today and let us know how it goes!
